How to get a Discord emoji ID

Need an emoji ID? Use one of these methods to find the ID or raw code of a custom Discord emoji.

Method 1: Use a backslash

In a Discord message, type a backslash immediately before a custom emoji and send the message. Discord can display the emoji's raw code, including its name and ID.

Example

\

This works with custom emojis. The exact result may vary depending on the Discord client.

Method 2: Enable Developer Mode

Developer Mode exposes additional copy-ID options in supported Discord interfaces.

  1. 1 Open User Settings and go to Advanced.
  2. 2 Enable Developer Mode.
  3. 3 Use the available Copy ID option for the emoji, where supported.

What does an emoji ID look like?

A custom emoji code contains its name and a numeric ID.

<:wave:123456789012345678>

The numeric part is the emoji ID. You can paste the full code into the downloader instead of extracting the ID yourself.
